Hi all,
I'm going out on my first koke trip ever next month to Shaver, my question is:
would there be a preference/difference to using the above mentioned gulp products over some good ol' green giant for tipping the hooks?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated! I'm so excited to try and catch some of these amazing fish, I'm doing as much research and reading as I can. Thanks for any input!

According to the Farmers Almanac for Aug. 2011, this whole month is bad for fishing with the lone exception of Wed. Aug. 24 which is listed as a "Best" day-----Therefore I shall go fishing every day I can this month. I will start with Loon Lake today for the mid - morning and afternoon bite.....I packed into Lake Packwood on the West side once (One Hr & 1/2 hike) and rented a row boat (no motors). The lady that rented the boat to us said no one was catching fish that day, well----I put on my trusty lilltle green flatfish and threw it in the water as the lady watched me from the pier. I must have rowed 4 strokes when "WHAM" one of those great 12" rainbows hit that flatfish hard and was fighting like crazy trying to throw the hook. All this happened within 30 feet of the pier and when I landed my little battle tested adversary into our boat, the pier lady was still standing there gaping at us with her mouth agape, that day we landed our limits, my wife was beside herself because she stole my only flatfish prize lure and caught all the rest of the fish that evening while Ol' Shady did all the rowing.

Hey Shady, talking about Loon Lake in Stevens County Washington? I live right down the rad from there and fish it a lot.

Hey Shady, Do you fish Loon lake in Washington? I live down the road from there and fish Loon quite a bit these days. I fish out of a Lund red in color. If you see me give a shout and we can compare notes.

Thanks silverbullets! I'll try and find a couple cans somewhere.
I'll be going mid september, will they be in full spawn mode by then?

Alot of it seems to depend on the elevation of the lake. This year since things got off to a late start you might be allright. Where I fish the lake is over 6,000 in elevation and the kokes are still looking pretty good (still have their scales and no sign of spawning yet.) Usually up there we fish to the 1st or 2nd week of Oct.

Shady, We will have to fish together on of these days and learn from each other. We live in Chattaroy and Loon is close for me too. What type and color of boat are you in? 509=370-3372

Shady, gives it a whole new meaning if you spell it with a "u" instead of the "i", and drop the "e",

I have a 12 ft. Gregor alum. color, her name is "ME2ME2" postedl aft on the port side. powered by a 15 horse Jonhnson which pushes her along her course very well except for slow trolling for silvers, having trouble getting her to troll at idle speed as I said in my last post. I haven't fixed my truck yet, I think a wire got loose from the heat sensor on the radiator because my engine lights didn't come on. my phone # is 276-9231. All the trouble I had Monday was STILL better than my best days working! I love Monday mornings.

i use regular corn and catch them. would my rate actually go up with shoe peg corn??

Old habits die hard. When in States where corn is legal, I use shoepeg corn. When in States where corn is illegal, I use pink and white maggots. Did anyone here ever use sponges? My first introduction into Utah Koke fishing involved cutting bright colored sponges into tiny little squares and soaking them in scent.
