Ive been fishing Kokanee from a 26 ft Searay since 1885 . Its getting too much work to launch ect when I fish by myself . I just bought a 19.5 ft restored StarCraft aluminum outboard boat . Is there a difference in the ion ? current between fiberglass and aluminum ? I also have e downriggers I just installed . Ive never used a black box .
Thanks , Dick

I did the same thing as you did about 6 months ago.

I went to a 17.5 Ft Lund from a 2452 Bayliner Classic and am happy with the ease of handling associated with the smaller lighter boat. I am using the same downriggers, walkers, and have noticed no change at all in my ION output in the water. It is important to make sure that all your wires are in good shape, including your grounds. I look forward to some other resposne's.

From what I've read the electrical charge emitted is close to the cable. Close is relative but generally speaking if you have your lure 30' back from the rigger ball the positive or negative influence is not having an influence. Positive OR negative are the key words there. If you have the correct amount of + output can actually attract fish and you lose that advantage by having your lure far back from ball.
My Canons default to .6 positive output. I have tried going to .5 anf .7 with no difference in results, but I do tend to run my terminal tackle a ways back from the ball.
