I didn't intend to go fishing this weekend but I bought a new boat this week to replace the old one and needed to take it out on a shake down.

We got to Evanston too late for our colonoscopy (although we had to stop at Wally's in Evanston to pick up my 2nd AIS sticker this year) and arrived at Lucerne around 11:00. Things were pretty busy with the derby going on when we got up in the morning but we launched and headed north into Wyoming. We went just north of pipeline and started catching as soon as we put our pink hoochies in the water.

We had limits by 11:00 and went in for lunch. The rest of the day was rain so no more fishing.

Sunday we went out to catch a few rainbows and replace the kokanee we had for dinner the previous night. Fishing was a little slower but we managed to get what we wanted by about 12:00. We got the camper packed up and wheels up by 4:00, home by 6:50 with a 20 minute stop at the Traveler's America east of Evanston where it takes as long to pump the last 3 dollars of gas as it takes to pump the first 97 dollars of gas.

The new boat performed very well. It may not be as comfortable as the old boat but it is a much better fishing boat and much better suited to my family's needs.

We caught a few 3rd years and a second year. All of the fish we kept were 4th years, over 18 inches with the biggest stretching almost to 21. Trolling speed was 1.8-2.2 and the fish seemed to be in the 20-30 foot range this time. But, it was also very cloudy so they may have stayed shallower because of the cloud cover this week. Last week they were down to 40-50-60 with full sun.

They are also a little sluggish. They are along for the ride once you snap out of the downrigger until they see the boat.
