Does anyone have any ideas when might be the best time to be fishing for Kokes on Lake Chelan, Wa. I'm heading that way next spring, but I don't know when I should go. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Denny

Usually the first two weeks in April is when the fish really start schooling in the lower basin and getting aggressive. We made our first trip April 10th last year and had a day for the record books. Fishing continues to be good in May but the fish start to scatter a little bit more and can be found from Mill bay all the way up to the narrows. As June rolls around your will be running up past the narrows to find good numbers of fish. My personal favorite time the last two years has been the end of April, The fish are schooled up, feeding aggressively, and get very angry when anything swims past them. Im just hoping we get our 18-22" average fish again this year!tooexcited

Steelhead360;

Thanks for the time suggestion. Sounds like the last two weeks in April can be quite good. I was going to head over for the kokanee get together in May, but there's been a change in plans so it isn't going to work out. But I think I can go earlier. We have plans for the middle of May which nullifys that kokanee trip. I hope to head south and do a little fly fishing also while we're there. I'm headed for Coldwater Lake on Friday for some fly fishing for rainbows if it doesn't blow too hard.

I hope to be posting weekly reports starting in March. I will be over there working March thru May. Good luck on your adventures!

I am going to be there fishing the first week in April. I am renting a house near Manson for a week. We fished Chelan a couple times last year and did very well. I think we were there after April last year when the fish were tougher to find but we still caught a bunch of nice fish. We also did well catching some nice Mackinaw off the bottom.

There are a couple of motels in Manson that are reasonable and clean. It is prior to the summer tourist traffic so the businesses are happy to see you there. Can't wait to go again...

Had a great time up at Cold Water yesterday. Ended up with 12 hits or so, but only six or seven to the net. All about 14-15 inches. One cutthroat and the rest rainbows. Would send pics., but don't know how.
