You inspired me to seek out the 2009 stocking plans (since we're typically catching 3yr old fish, this seems to be the stock we'd be catching, correct?). In 2009 Lake Sawyer was stocked with 65,000 Kokanee (279 acres or 232 fish per acre) and Meridian got 40,000 (150 acres or 266 fish per acre).
This concentration is slightly lower than American lake which got 353,559 (1162 acres or 304 fish per acre) and doesn't take into account any environmental factors that could decrease size or numbers (low food amount, more predation, etc.) but would indicate to me that the fishing should be at least worth checking out.
Washingtonlakes.com has many reports from Meridian. A quick skimming reveals that people caught pretty good numbers, but the fish were small. I cannot find any reports from Lake Sawyer, so that could either mean that people have decided it's north worth the effort or that the fishing is so good that they don't want to spill the beans. Probably somewhere in between I'd imagine
I'd suggest giving Sawyer a try and let us know how you do. You might also try talking to folks in local tackle shops and see if they've heard anything about Sawyer. If you go, be sure to report back, preferably with photos.
edit: I can't find any info on Meridian containing landlocked Silvers/Coho.
Also, in case anyone wants to look up the stocking numbers from 2009 from other lakes, they can be found here:
