Has anyone been out to LP this week? I am hoping to get out either Friday or Saturday if the weather permits.

We have a group of guys that goes on Wed evenings. We only had 3 boats last night. Conditions were perfect. I got skunked and have no idea why. We had one boat get 3 and the other get 2. We have been limiting pretty regularly for about 3 weeks now. I've been choking on a big piece of humble pie all day.

I talked to 3 or 4 boats that were taking out while we were putting in and only one of them had caught any kokes, and only 1. Did they all take the day off?

Well Salmonster, you weren't the only one getting skunked this week at LP.
Got a late start today, and fished from 10-2:30 with only one Long Distance Release to show for it. I didn't see one fish come to the net during the day, with more than 10 boats fishing around me. Well, that's fishing. I did get to try out a new Cannon downrigger and a rod I built last week, so not all was lost.

I emailed the photo to luckykoke, he had offered to help.

We did better yesterday. An ICY, miserable wind blew hard from dawn 'till about 10:30. When it let up, the bite was on for about 90 minutes. We had 4 or 5 passes through the same spot where either all 4 or 3 of 4 rods went off.
Our batting average was horrible and we still ended up a couple of fish short but it was a rodeo. We need to practice our multiple hook-up routine.

The fish (I'm assuming kokanee but am not sure) were chasing what in the salt I would call "bait balls". The surface would occasionally erupt with small fish jumping and larger ones thrashing them. We brought the downriggers up to 15-20 feet and tried to drive through them.

For a little while it looked like every boat in the area had a fish on.

Thanks for posting that. My buddy that is holding the fish did not catch the bigger one, so he is hiding his face. He is a regular reader, but hasn't posted yet

Nothing more crazy than multiple hook-ups. My favorite are when we hook two or more coho in ocean. Psychotic fish anyway!! So, I am heading up to check out the boat Friday before dragging it up to Kookenay Lake in B.C. Best way to check out a boat is to drag some wedding rings or micro-hoochies, right? Where were the kokes congregated on your last run, if I might ask. Not that they will necessarily be there on Friday, but it would make good starting point. Any info is appreciated. Mike

We have a group going this evening so I shoudl have report tomorrow. Last Wednesday I got skunked.

Years back they stocked chinook in Lucky Peak. Not doubting the story, but that fish looks more like a nookie to me. I caught some smaller chinook on wedding rings, up to about 18". I think the tail is more squared off thatn the V tail of a Koke, but it is hard to tell in the picture. Whatever it was it is a heck of a nice fish!

We had 5 boats last night, all but one got 6-8 each, so we did pretty good. My buddies all read this but don't post and are giving me SH$! about posting how we are doing so I will probably let up for a while.

Yeah, I understand your "lurker" friends being concerned about someone discovering their "secret hole". I sure hope nobody discovers Lucky Peak. Personally, I have always shared on this site and on Big Fish, knowing that, first, it is a generous thing to do, and secondly, realizing that sharing fishing information runs both ways. Mike

well, im going for the first koke trip saturday morning. i'll be in an american jet with a brown soft top. first trolling trip with the new boat, kicker and downriggers. i hope you keep posting. let your friends know that its not like youre pulling a roger phillips or anything. i know i appreciate the reports...and i'll do the same.
