Was thinking about keeping my kayak in my truck so that if the weather is nice, I can just drop it in the lake at the Dam Park. I have never fished near the dam when I take my other boat. Is there any good "hot spots" that is an easy paddle from the park? I am going to imagine that it should be good fishing since I have read that people shore fish for kokanee there?

Cheers,

Westy

when i was young you could fish off the dam.i was like 10 then 70 now.lots have changed in 60 years.now most of the lakes are put and take.i won't even fish for them there very low grade fish not worth taking home.the only good fish now is kokane.and the state is cutting back on the plants it's kinda sad.the young guys will never see fishing like i did with my dad and grandpa.what a shame for the young guys now

Yeah, I hear about the good old days from my old man, but Kokanee fishing at Merwin is pretty good and a whole heck of alot of fun. So, to change it up and do it more often, I think the Kayak will be a good change up. Also, a little more exercise than pulling the pull cord on my kicker.

Once or twice a year I'll fish Merwin from the kayak instead of the "real boat". I fish out of Speelyai Bay. You can start your troll right out of the bay. I only take it during the top-lining part of the season. If you see someone out there in a cedar woodstrip kayak, trolling along, it may be me.
