minnkota trolling motor doesnt work

!#%&@!!! trolling motor went out its only 1 year old TERROVA with ipilot. When I press button on remote the display comes on for a few seconds.
No tone when I press learn button. anybody have some insight.

Does the remote use a battery? That's my one shot at being Mr. Fixit Guy.

I fished last week in Minnesota with guys using Terrovas, and they had no complaints about them.

Take your remote apart and check the battery. Make sure the pin-pad is not broken (its a hard plastic pad that sits under the buttons, it should be in one piece). Also while you have it open replace the battery however; you cannot use a panisonic battery replacement (the ones sold from walmart) according to Minn Kota those will not work but they offer no explanation as to why. If you need one get it from radio shack. Once you have checked the remote & replaced the battery. Unplug your motor and let it sit for 2 minutes. Then plug it back in, hit any key on your remote then press the learn button on the motor.

I tried no tone .nothing out of motor .display lights up fo a second or two the blank. I am calling Minkota today
