I haven't gotten any info of Moon Lake here in Utah. Does anyone know any kind of stats about that lake? It appears to be a higher elevation lake up near Mirror Lake region. Does it have a boat launch? Or is it anything like Causey Res. where its float tubes & canoes only? It shows it has Kokanee there.

Sounds like we are pretty much restricted to Strawberry & the Gorge. We need more Koke lakes. I often wander if DNR has plans of stocking some other reservoirs.

One of the lakes of legend it is said to be bottomless.Full of cannon and gold bars if i remember right.its been a couple years but ive fished it.You can rent a boat at the lodge there is a store also can launch off the beach
or i believe there is a ramp at the dam area.but primative conditions .the road is long and bad of potholes.you will hav to go to mountian home to get there.caught som trout. But it is the scenery that will wow you.

Fished It last year caught plenty Koke's but there not stocked any more. I believe the ones We caught (wild out of the rivers) where in there second year 7-10". One good thing about the elevation is that the fish stay shallow. We where catching them 15-20 feet down the first week in August.

I think I'm going to take a scouting trip up there one day. I like to explore new territories even if I don't take a boat or rod. Sometimes scenery can make up a lot.

Some interesting facts about the development of the Resort at Moon Lake can be found at
http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/ashley/heritage/histories/moon-lake-history.pdf. As far as Kokanee go, yes, they were put in there. The DNR put out a document at http://wildlife.utah.gov/publications/pdf/newkokan.pdf that shows this.

So far, Kokanee have been stocked in the following lakes in Utah: Bear Lake, Strawberry, Flaming Gorge, East Canyon, Scofield, Deer Creek, Moon Lake, Porcupine, Panquitch Lake, Causey, and Stateline to establish sport fishery populations. In 1991, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources began a kokanee stocking program at Strawberry Reservoir.

Today, kokanee populations are thriving in Flaming Gorge, Porcupine and Strawberry reservoirs, and future kokanee management looks bright for Utah.

Other than the lakes we have now with Kokes, what does it mean future management looks bright? Is there a possibilty of more Kokanee lakes in the future?
