Mounting a fish finder in the back of the boat?

Help Support Kokanee Fishing Forums:

Thanks for the input. The two farthest back are on the provided DR pads. The two that are forward are on adjustable mounts. They can be moved forward with the turn of a couple of handles. They use the cross support for stability so I am going to start them out there and see how they fish. I kind of expect that I will put in a permanent mounting pad as soon as I figure out where they are comfortable. I don't want to drill it out just yet... I appreciate the feedback and the compliments on the boat.

going forward I don't like anything permanent I put a female mount attached to the side of my gunneles and attached a male to my DR this way I slip my DR in and out when needed my gunnels so when I fish for another species I can remove my DR completely and my net won't hang up on my equipment.

Today I mounted the rear station for the Garmin touch screen and a rail system from Miller Marine. This allowed a clean mount for the filet table and the rod holders at each side. I will test run it this weekend at Chelan.

nice setup thumbsup your cleaning station should take some of the sun glare off the screen. how did you end up mounting your forward downriggers? and good luck at Chelan

Dfly, I looked at several different ways to mount the sonar and thought the same thing. This should cut the glare from the sunlight and also keep the rain off of it as much as possible. It is also tucked back enough that I can work at the cutting board without it getting bumped or covered in fish guts. The forward down riggers are on Scotty rail mounts. I can slide them around the rail as long as the have some of the cross rail below for support. (keeps them from twisting) They are about 18 inches or so from the rear DR's. I didn't notice any space issues working around them the last trip. Once I find the right spot I think I will have pads welded in and have them permanently mounted. As for now, I like that they are easy to remove and just move around in general.

MtnCat. Thanks! I was really happy with the way it came out. I am a bit of an organization freak so I like having everything in its place. Can't wait for the water tests.
