Onboard Chargers

Hi guys, I am thinking about getting an onboard Charger for the boat. Do any of you use them , and is there anything special I should be looking for or concerned about?

Would this output be for a maintenance charger? I am looking for one also that I can mount permanently in the boat, any brand suggestions?

I am looking at Pro Mariner 12 and the Pro Tournament 100 or 150. You can add an extention to the cables.

Dan, did it actuall tell you that in the write up? It goes against how most of them typically know when you shut off.

650, If you fish a long day and draw the batteries way down, plugging in over night won't get you a full charge unless you have a high output charger. All chargers are designed to be smart chargers and provide the charge only when needed.

Dave , in the BPS catalog there is a photo of the Battery bank Extention cable assembly. one is 5ft long , and the other is 15 ft long.

I put a Minn Kota 345D on my boat last season. It did require that I add extension cables to charge the bow battery and both stern batteries. It is mounted in the cockpit area, just above the walk-through step. So far, it works great! All I do is plug into the built-in cord and watch for the three lights to indicate a full charge. Much better than charging each battery individually and spending the time to connect a charger to each battery every time. It's also great at campgrounds, where all I have to do is connect my Honda 1000 generator up and let 'er rip.
