My children and I caught these fish in 11 mile reservoir yesterday, but we're not completely certain if they are Kokanee or trout, since they have some features of both.

Thanks.

All trout. Spots on the tail and the anal fin is a dead give away between trout and salmon. The bottom ray extends all the way to the base of the anal fin on trout and only about half way on salmon.

good job taking the kids fishing. reminds me of my kids when they first started fishing at a juvenile pond, what fun.

what do you guys feed those trout there in 11 Mile, Wheaties wrapped in bacon. that lower middle one has a bigger belly than I do. those would make the eyes of any kid fishing light up.

those natives or hatchery genetically altered rainbows? we have the sterile hatchery produced triploid trout up here in Wa. to 20lbs plus.

those look like they might be some fish biologists hybrid with some cutthroat in them?

I didn't see any signs of cutthroat in them, just good old fashioned rainbow trout. I'm inclined to guess them to be hatchery fish but that is just a guess based upon their condition and coloring. Perhaps they have faded a bit before the picture was taken. Glad to hear that you and your children got to experience some quality time on the water together. Keep up the great fishing.
