setting up two new linecounter level winds, a magda pro 30 and a magda pro 20. Will use the 30 with lead line and the 20 with a 8 ft heartland for the DR. how much (if any) backing should I put on the reels??. Will use older but new mono Thanks

I was thinking of filling inner spool space to get the good lines on the outer end of the spool for better control, less twist... Where would anyone find that much Sure would take a pile of dental floss to do that..

Ralph, are you talking about just on the MP20 or both? Buy a spool of Big Game 10 Lbs test at Wal Mart for about $8. There is 1,500 yds in the spool. I use this line for my entire spool.

For the best accuracy with the line counter reels check the instructions for what type and pound test the manufacturer recomends. On my line counters (Daiwa Accudepth) there's a big difference in accuracy between 8lb and 10lb mono.

I'm guessing both. As I read the spool capacity chart on the reels it will take over 400 yds of 8 lb test to fill the 30, about 280 to fill the 20. Dont want that much premium line on there since I change line every season, not to mention $$$, so I fill the inside of the spool with junk. Is that not standard practice. New to level winds so wondered what and how much you guys use . I guess I will just load and see..

How many colors of lead core and what pound are you going to run? 5 colors and 100' of mono leader will probably fill the 30. Maybe put 100' of mono on both ends?
