Went up to Strawberry to observe the river residence and the DNR facility where the egg harvest is done. Unfortunately no harvest was done on this day but facility was opened for viewing the brilliant color of the fish. I saw a couple of brutes that could be near if not a new record swimming around but its a hard judgement to call. There are 6 pens, 2 of which holding males and 4 for females. There are more males vs female. For every 10 females eggs harvested 2 males are for fertilizing. Both Strawberry & Flaming Gorge are the primary supply of Kokanee to be stocked in Utah. The quota fill harvest has been filled this year. Each female holds an average of 1200 eggs.
