If Garmin says that my current (2 years old) fish finder will work with Live Scope then that will be my next big buy. Then I will have to figure out how to best mount it for a 360 degree view capability.
I have a Lowrance HDS live 9. And I have a Live sight transducer. If I set the live sight as my primary input I can see an area wider than I see deep. Its been a wonderful unit. It's about 3 and a 1/2 years old and have had no issues at all. I spent about 3000$ over all and received 400$ in rebaits. Also received a Navtronic map program. I have it connected to Garmin Reactor 40, and it works well as a unit.
I did have a series of emails with Garmin and while I did know my model number I did not know the software version or the transducer model. Unfortunately the boat is about 1k miles away. I will be back there in early Feb and will power up the unit and pass the data to Garmin. While looking down is important to knowing where the bottom is while trolling I really want to be able to see out in front and to the sides trying to spot fish and schools of fish. If my Garmin wont connect, I will get with someone knowledgeable about Lowrance and take a look at what their 7 inch units have to offer.
