Looking to maybe head to Wallowa Lake during Spring Break from Sonora, CA.
Any info about fishing there would be appreciated.

I didn't appreciate 13 years in Copperopolis with lakes Don Pedro, New Melones, and Pardee until I moved to eastern Washington. It was nice having three koke lakes within a 45 min. drive. Like you, I have Wallowa on my bucket list.

KL, Yes we live less than 30 min. from the Tuttletown ramp at New Melones...it's an awesome "home" lake.
Mr. M, we have all the right cold weather gear & a Heater Buddy!!
KK, OK, I will check back in a few weeks. Was just wondering what koke fishing might be like at the end of March?

March at Wallowa Lake

Last year in the first part of april we had 6" of snow on the boat. We got our limit with no fish over 14". Took 45 min to shovel the boat ramp so we could pull the boat out. I hope the rest of the people that used the ramp apprecdiated the snow free ramp.

nine to twelve inches of ice with some diehards jigging thru the ice for small fish. largest to date that I know of was 13 1/2 inches. majority are in the 7 to 10 inches and limits are a rarity rather than the norm.

Sadly i think it will be awhile before we see big fish in Wallowa again. I feel lucky to have witnessed some of the great fishing over the last few years. My biggest was 26.5" inches. Last year i didnt touch a fish bigger than 10". Though the kokanee may be small, theres big trout in there also. I got a 29.5 inch rainbow 2 years ago.

Every year for the last three years we have come away with several koks 22" - 26". We have been very lucky so I'm hoping for some more big ones this year!!

O.K. O.K. 26 INCH KOKES GOT TO BE IN THE 5 1/2 POUND RANGE that a lake record for Wickiup /I landed a 26 inch fish at wallala lake a few yrs ago maybe that new ruler in that new boat or scale could be off just a little off
