Tried it last weekend and got nada, this is after slaying them at Merwin. No one I've talked to has done well at Yale yet. Maybe with some warmer temps for longer than a couple days may change that around.

I have fished Yale alot yet mostly have done good after Memorial Day. I have done good by the dam and working the boat working towards the east after coming out the launch. I have found schools close, yet I tend to work the middle part of the lake. Have done very well with my usual Chrome Dodgers with pink and green hoochies. Gulp Maggots and DNA Kokanee Scent.
I put a small gang troll off of my downriggers and run back my set up about 5 feet off a stacker release from my downrigger cable and set it back about 10 ft.
Fishing Yale at this time i hit most of my fish from 30 to 40 ft down. The plankton bloom is generally pretty strong so you don't have to worry about spooking fish and having to set your rig back further. The koks are generally smaller than Merwin, yet the limit of 15 makes up for it!!! Good Luck out there and bring your camera, you can get some nice shots of Mt. Saint Helens in the back ground. 101chromefish101

My toddler woke me up around 4:00 and I couldn't go back to sleep so I hooked up the boat headed north for a trial run before the BBQ in three weeks.
Launched at 5:30 and had a limit (16) by 8:15. Kept 6 and released 11.[I know... the math doesn't add up - ended with a double that put me over 1] Keepers were 10-12" avg. and anything smaller went back in the pond to fatten up some more.
Set-ups: Pink Sierra Roger Dodger and pink/purple Kokanee Creek spinner. Green dodger and one of my homemade spinners. White flasher and an orange orange Vance's spoon. All got fish.

Very reliable source fished it this weekend. Easy limits for four. Launched at 6am done by 10am. 1 1/2 to 2 oz. weight, 35ft. on the counter, ford fender to green wedding ring tipped with shoe peg. 11 to 12" and healthy. They hit the water and put in one rod and it went off in less than a minute. Constant action with many lost.
Wish I was with them. Had the pleasure of watching our 20 month old grandson. He is just a little young for a day of fishing.

Another Yale perspective
Snuck over to Yale this weekend in between trips out on Merwin. We fished down by the dam since it was closest to Cresap where we were camped. I have fished this area for years and ALWAYS catch some fish. All the fish at this end of the reservoir were deep and not feeding. Only one truck in the parking lot so I would advise fishing at the middle launch closer to Cougar until someone reports otherwise - the fish I did see were smaller than the last two years.

I have never been on Yale, what areas of the lake are the best to fish? Looking at the maps it looks like I can get there in just about the same amount of time it takes me on to the water at Merwin. Its a longer distance but it is really slow going up over the hill and down threw the campground. Even though I have spent a far amount of time in the area I never realized just how close I really am to things. thumbsup

Suggestion for Yale
If you stay on Hwy 503 past the Cresap turnoff the next access you come to is Yale Park. Launch there and go straight across the water to the far side and you will see other guys fishing. Usually a productive spot. RP

Fished Yale today, fishing was good, catchig was steady and green was the color.....only problem was everything was very small 9" and 10" lots of throw backs but a great fathers day none the less spent with my two daughters.....great memories

Forgot to mention those new docks and ramps at Yale Park.....fist class, very nice, heck of an up grade from what was there last year and much much safer!!!

I was out there with you! Awesome way to spend fathers day, red was working for me as long as I was going fast enough and the worm was still on the hook. It got crazy for a while, what a blast you know its good when the kid doesn't even have time to eat a snack.
