I fish single action (fly) reels when kok fishing. I load them with backing then 10# braid. Then I put 100' of 6# mono to my main line snap swivel. This way I know when I'm back 100' which is my go to set back when fishing early season. Like others here I shorten the set back proportionately...
I do quite a bit of saltwater salmon fishing. I usually add a "dummy" flasher to the ball 6 to 10' behind the ball. I haven't tried it for koks but plan to this year. This technique would allow you to test several color combinations easily as opposed to painting/taping the ball. You will need...
eenakoK and Quadfather,
Thanks for the welcome. I do love chasing (and eating) these fish. I greatly enjoy working on new lure/dodger designs and get after them fairly hard until the salt heats up. I will keep you posted on my success and may take you up on a trip QF. Fish On. K

One more thumbs up. It is a great net! I also bought the "looooonnnnggg" one and I don't loose near the fish I used to. It did start to get rough on extension and finally quit working. I purchased it through Kokanee Mart, so I dropped Rick a line and he was on it.....Great service from him...
I will begin with the comment that I am certainly no expert, but with that said I have read and heard the words of those who are. All the advice I have received is use scent and don't rely on one. I have always used scents on my corn, usually mixing it up in small containers the day before my...
I believe the ramp in town at the north east end is open 24/7. Your state permit (the one that comes with your fishing license) is all you need for a car/truck and trailer. Wyatt Park west/southwest side is gated and technically opens at dawn. I have seen it open much earlier and also on...
Very nice work guys! For sure...
Petty, your pics early in the tread show a slightly differnent style dodger profile. Can I ask how the action varies? Oh yes and where you got them?
Thanks in advance and tight lines.

I would lube them well prior to heading out and bring an extra thermos or two with some hot water to douse them with. If re-freezing is a continual problem I would spray them with WD40.....for sure. It is biodegradable, cheap, and I know some salmon fishers who actually spray it on their...
MM....
Nice job! I fished years ago with a guide on the Clearwater for springers. He had a similar hand warmer from his Yamaha T8. We all loved it as it was quite cold. The boat looks great!
High five....K
I use both.....I put 90ft. of 6# Maxima Ultra Green on the end of my reel loaded with 10# Power Pro. I know when I'm around 100 ft. back for long lining and the low drag from the braid (vertically) when clipped into the DR let's me tighen up on the fish quickly.

Super D, Those are some great looking rigs. I especially like the marbled glow blades.....nice! Did you paint them yourself?
As for a cheap, light way to position any rig above the hooks....I posted this technique somewhere else so pardon the redundancy. Take a small diameter piece of latex...
I do a bunch of salmon fishing in the salt and do some custom dodgers and flashers for that fishing. This is the best deal I have found on tapes. They are pre cut to fit an 11 In. Hot Spot flasher.....roughly 3 In. x 11 In. in size and two per pack. I can usually make 2 to 3 finished sling...
