Okay, GP is starting to get a little more attention and activity, so it's time to start up this years official, or not so official, place to post your GP reports.

GP Water Levels

I checked a couple web sites in planning for this weekend fishing decision.

The water level at GP has been brought up 7.8 feet in the last 7 days. That is a fairly aggessive raising, but not as much as I have seen in the past.

GP is now 8.32 feet below full pool, while Foster below it is 25.02 feet below full pool. What has happened in the past is that in the month of May, usually late May, they will drop GP rapidly to fill Foster that so that it is at full pool by Memorial Day Weekend. Then they refill GP quickly back to full pool, maybe as much as a couple feet per day. During these times of rapid increase and decrease in the GP pool, the fish there seem to stop biting. You can still catch fish, they just aren't as aggressive. Don't ask me why, maybe it is the churning of the thermocline or moving the plankton around. The geeks in the lab may be able to answer that question.

Anyway, here are a couple websites that will help you monitor the water levels. The first one will show the previous month and the current month.

Even with them bringing the level up this week, I will still be going on Sunday, no sense in letting the kokaneekid get to far ahead of me in fish count this early......nonono

it was nasty most of the day high winds about 12:00 on we hung out in arms most of the day. Cauht fish 2' to 25' ended up with 38 kokes and a limit of trout those we kept for some trout eating guy. Through back aprx 30 trout. Kokes we 10" to 12" great day of fishing for the first time out this year. Using vance dodgers purple haze hoochies in orange, purple, blood red, chart. I personally was using dokata chart. Spinner behind a special painted vance gold dodger. That set up was hammering fish all day had to replace the spinner towards the end of the day was afraid it was going to break off.

Targeted fish marked in the 40-55 foot range. Ended up with 17 in the boat, a lot of them in the 12-13 inch range and very robust. Lost as many boated. Bright colored hoochies on short leaders worked well. Fished four rods, lots of doubles, triples and a few quads......fast action at times.

WOW! That warmed up fast. Sunday it was 52 in the main body and 54 in the arms. The warmer water and stable eleveation should result in them schooling up. Only schools I say Sunday were up the arms in warmer water. Get ready though, Foster is still low and they will probably be dropping GP again soon. That will foul things up for a week or so.

wow what a day fishfinder and downriggers worked overtime all day 3 of us on the boat all limmited out 25 each any where fom 35' even picked up 2 at 100' just thought we would give it a try biggest was 13.5 I,m tired a lot of fish to clean and smoke this time hiting on orange, chat, pink, blood red hoochies chart spinners were hot all morning. you name it we had it in the water and all were catching fish.

I went up today, had to stop at 10am, had 10 by that time but did a lot of scouting around different areas of the lake looking for the big ones. Plus, had to do a little creative throttle linkage repairs on the kicker. Did catch one drifting with the wind in the process though, cowling off, linkage off......FISH ON!

Depth ran from 40 on the shallow end, last one was caught at 75 as the sun got higher, they went deeper.

Green Peter Report

We fished up there Friday. Caught 9 kokes and 3 trout. Most were caught at 50-70ft with a pink hoochie and copper blade. We fished across from the island. Marked lots of fish just could not get a lot of biters.

First Time

Will be on the water this Saturday around 0700 and was wondering who will be on the water with me to lead the way? Look's like between 50-70 feet might be the depth and I'm so looking forward to getting out their for the first time. You might not see me, because the boat is painted camo.101ok101
