Another year for more koke opportunities. Best of luck to all. Let us hear your stories.
Does anybody know if Id F & G used fertilizer in Dworshak in 2023? Does anyone know if they will use fertilizer in 2024? Without the fertilizer, the kokes are smaller and much deeper, even though the populations seem to be good!
I saw the barge with the truck running upstream near Indian Creek last year and assumed it was fertilizer. Later heard that they use it to pump out the floating restrooms, but I thought the barge for that was different? It was first of April, I don't recall the restrooms even being out, but I didn't go up very far so I might have just not noticed them.
Seems like IDFG should know, I wonder who we would call to ask?
I don't know who the biologist is any longer, however the IDFG office in Lewiston is where I got information a few years back. They had full reports available back then on what was being done to enhance the fishery. Damn nice of them, I thought :^)
I spoke with the new ID F & G biologist who stated fertilizing for maximizing plankton size is ongoing. That said test trolls and netting last year confirmed not as many kokes as last year, but still too many. He expects this years to be bigger than last year, but not by a lot. Anyone can call the Lewiston office and ask to speak with the Dworshak Biologist. Maybe if enough folks call they'll re start sending emails out with kokanee data and predictions
Does anyone have any kokanee fishing reports for Dworshak; 2024???
thanks

I posted the f&g report in the post above yours.
I fished the canyon crk area on sat, and did terrible with one fish caught and one lost at the boat. I fished from 9 to 5. I wasn't marking them. Tried the surface all the way down to 35 ft. There were also no boats out on a beautiful day, which makes me think the fish have moved elsewhere. Are they closer to the dam at the moment?
Thanks for the info
I read the report; don't sound good for fishing now; maybe its just too early??
