we where everywhere. 45' up. We had lines at various depths. My buddies fish finder he brought along said the fish where scattered depths. No schools either to speak of.

Have you tried 5-10 feet deep? They wont show on the fish finder at that depth but with this cold water that is where we are finding the active fish.

I did notice activity at the surface really close to the island's shore line. We had rigs dragging 50' behind the boat at around 10' depth also. We just couldnt conjure anything to bite. Hopefully this saturday will produce a few. Im going to Cabelas to look at a new fish finder. Hopefully they have something good in the 200 bucker' range.

At least you got out there and gave it a shot. I've tried everything imaginable in the early season but for whatever reason the action, at this lake, doesn't seem to pick up until water surface temp gets into the 50 degree range. But nonetheless, I'm a diehard and plan to fish American again on Sunday.

The race is on! lol Good luck Kokanee_slayer. I think the weather is going to be a bit warmer coming up so with any luck the temps will start changing for the better.

Gonecatchin: great video!! Was that this year? If so, what was the water temp in Merwin when you caught all those kokanee? You guys are all bundled up so the outside temp must have been pretty low. Great post.

I agree, I will be hitting it hard for a couple of hours at least on Saturday!
