We are looking at a trip up to the gorge the first week of April. We were thinking about chasing some burbot as well as the lakers. We usually fish the Utah side. Anybody have any suggestions on where to go and what to use? I've never really targeted the burbot so any info is helpful. Thanks!

By Utah side do you mean sheep creek or Lucerne. I would try by swim beach or over by the pipeline around sunset using a glow in the dark 3"-5" curly tail jig tipped with some sucker meat. I would start in about 10-20' of water and go from there. Don't spend alot of time in one spot if you don't get bit in 20 min. or so move. Either go deeper or move to a different area and every couple of minutes recharge your glow. I like to put a rattle in one of my jigs to make some noise to help attract them in, and I leave one pole deadstick just in case they won't hit a moving target.

Thanks for the info. We will be putting in at sheep creek. I'm not too familiar with the lake yet, where is swim beach. I've heard it talked about, but haven't seen it on any maps.

Swim beach is right around the corner from Lucern. I know there are burbot that far down, I just have never fished for them that far down lake. Good Luck and let us know how you did.
