My wife has been ice fishing with me for the last couple of years and we always have to leave due to her being cold. Has anyone ever tried any of the heated jackets that run on batteries. Might be a good Christmas present for her.

In my attempts to keep the wife warm, it starts with the under armor. I buy her the best, heavy duty under layer to build on. The proper wicking and energy saving base layer is paramount to keeping her warm.

I bought my wife a good pair of ski bibs and snow boots. She gets mobility and warmth. A good fleece lined winter wind breaker waterproof jacket adds to the warmth. Of course she wears the under armour too. Mastering a good pair of gloves is harder. I found ski gloves work well but find them too bulky.

She does have some Cabelas cold weather bibs and coat. I bought her a nice pair of Shappel snow boots and with hand warmers her feet are fine. Most days we bring the shelter and heater but she has never been able to warm up enough after the trek in. In all honesty I am not allowed to have the A/C on in the house at less than 78 due to the house being to cold. I am looking at diffrent options on how to keep her warmer on the way out, without having to buy an enclosed side by side.I think most of it is a mental thing , ice = cold.

My wife too suffers from the cold. It can be 105F outside and she wears a sweater. As far as she's concerned its not warm enough at 105. She doesn't like winter activities at all. My AC is controlled more down at 73. I have been thru heat stroke before and try to avoid direct sunlight hot conditions in the summer. During the winter, I'm like that lizard looking for that warm spot on a rock but if there is some open water on a cold nice day, I will find it. Thats usually Bear Lake this time of year into spring. For me, misery loves company.
