Downriggers

Kokanee Fishing Forums

Help Support Kokanee Fishing Forums:

Just saw the thread so sorry I'm a little late on this. I have a 20 ft Fisher Liberty 200 that I have slightly modified to use two Scotty manual downriggers. I still have a couple more brackets to install to help reinforce the fence but it works great. The fence will be the weak link and that is where you will need to ensure adequate stability from side to side and downward pressure. Another option would be a pedestal coming up from the floor but for me I didn't have access to those type materials and the cost would probably been too much. My setup is fairly inexpensive and I can quickly remove everything when it's not in use. I'll post some pictures this weekend (I want to install those last brackets this weekend) and hopefully that will help you out if you still need it. Take care.

Couple more pics of the fence braces I put in and then of the mod I had to do to install my Luhr-Jenson trolling speed indicator. The rail was not wide enough so had to improvise. Works great. Hope this helps.

The key is to make everything as stable/solid as possible. Let me know if you have any specific questions. When I posted I was in a hurry and didn't get a chance to describe the photo's better. Good luck.

here is a downrigger holder i made for my boat. i got all the parts at a tractor supply store and a hardware store. tracker boats have a great system for adding rod holders and accessories, but do not sell the brackets to go with the boat.View attachment 6328

It looks like it is a rare vBulletin bug where attachments go missing. Apparently using the 'Insert Image' doesn't always work. The workaround is to click on the 'Go Advanced' button, and then upload images through the 'Attachments' icon instead of the 'Insert Image'. This is the first time I hear about the problem (thanks rebelsportsman for the PM), hopefully it will not repeat itself.
