Driving from Portland to Wickiup. Is it better to drive through Eugene and across by Odell/Crescent or should we just go through Bend and down that way?
Thanks, Kokaneegal

Kokaneegal I go up I-5 south to Highway # 58 though and past Odell Lake, turn off at Wickiup turn off . I leave from Canby area.

last year towed the boat over 22 to 126 thru Sisters, never will tow that route again, road is fun in a sports car but not a camper/boat. came back 26 over Hood, hwy in very poor shape on East side and too much construction slow traffic congestion west side, very slow. I5 or 205 thru Portland is a nightmare anymore towing
going Gorge 84 and down 97 this year.

i wish Ore. would fix their roads with all the fuel tax and out of state license costs I pay.

From my neck of the woods the mileage down I-5 to 58 or over 22 and down 97 is almost identical, however, traffic in Sisters and Bend will slow you down, faster to go I-5 to 58.

hate going thru Woodenville Salem anymore because of the construction and just heavy general congestion.
just about have gave up on I5 south except when there is no other choice.
Truck traffic has bloomed and recovered in the past year to prerecession + levels.

Go down to Eugene and over 58. It will save you a ton of time.

Sounds like I-5 to hwy 58 is the preferred route by most based on this thread, however if you do decide to come Government camp or Santiam, it is much faster when you get south of Bend to turn on Vandevert road and pop directly over to Wickiup than to go down to Wickiup Junction.
