The pre-tied hoochies I have bought all had their hook in line, and that is the way I have re-rigged them. I have seen an alternative of the hook points 180 to each other. What say you on the choices?

Just throwin' something out for you all to ponder.

When I tie leaders, the hooks end up how they end up. I consider it a pure accident if they line up when I'm done.

Sounds good to me.

Another thought I had - Anyone used a WiggleFin disc with a squid? I tried one in front of a squid for a bit last year, and it did add some action. What I'm pondering now is putting the wiggle fin INSIDE the squid. I just tried and it fits nicely and the legs are well spread. I can imagine that will be tormenting a koke, to say the least.

Remember, you read it here first, and if it turns to the hot lure next season you each owe me a beer when we meet at the Gorge.

Smokepoles how does that disc fit in a squid ?

The wigglefin gives a different cadence to the hootchie action. Everything else you see is slower and more side to side sway. My conclusion has been that Kokes aren't big on the twitch sense we don't see everyone doing this already.

I put the disc inside the squid body with the tip forward into the head- sort of replacing a tube/straw. It will give a slower action in this orientation than when the concave face of the disc is forward. In fact, it may not impart much action at all, but it does spread the legs.

SuperD, you well may be right and that is why I had no luck with the disc in front of a squid with the concave face forward.

I now suggest to put the disc inside the squid body with the tip forward into the head- sort of replacing a tube/straw. It will give a slower action in this orientation than when the concave face of the disc is forward. In fact, it may not impart much action at all, but it does spread the legs.

Just throwing this out for fun.
