if you have been to the sportsmen shows you have probably ran into gary from fwg tackle he wrote this humors and informative article about a kokanee and a guy named dude that I thought was pretty good to help under stand kokanee a little better it's part 3 of his kokanee university series. it was too long to post so here is the web page http://www.fishwithgary.com/kokanee_university_part3.html

I've never had much luck with Gary's stuff. Maybe I'm not fishing it right. I've read all the Kokanee University series and thought I had it down. I know his gear catches a lot of fisherman and its nicely built, but still not my go to lures. I loaned a setup to a buddy who was fishing with me and he caught a nice trout. I think that's the only fish I've ever seen caught on Gary's gear. I know a guy who spent a lot of $$$ on Gary's stuff, every combo sold, and each year he threatens to raise the level of the lake with it all. Those of you that using it.....how are you fishing it?

I didn't have much luck at first until I found out a short leader is a must about 8'' and I troll at 1.2 to 1.6. on greenpeter we use the white early mornings and on overcast days I was using other gear and my wife was kicking my butt with that setup now its part of our starting line up. remember the big end goes to the pole just the opposite of a sling blade. dfly

Thanks.....yeah, found out the hard way the big end goes towards the pole. I keep trying Gary's stuff.....they sure look like they should work. A little off the topic, but related....I found some 'attractors' on a close out table...can't remember where, but they looked good even tho they seemed a little big for kokanee. Used them one day when nothing else seemed to work and I was on a catch like no other. The other guy in the boat wanted to see what I was using so I brought it in and showed him. He quickly pointed out I had it backwards. I turned it around and nothing! Turned it back and started hooking up again. Tried the same attractor many times since, both forward and backward and nothing. Goes to show you never know what it's going to take on any particular day. Note....I leave those attractors on the boat.....just in case.

The very first time I used ball flashers it was lights out hook ups. I can't catch a fish with them now to save my life. I also haven't had luck with Gary's stuff and the build never impressed me to begin with so they sit in a pocket of the dodger wallet without seeing the water.

I have plans of doing a little cleaning before Spring and plan on listing some stuff, probably pretty soon.
