My video archives have been stacking up on the computers lately but I found a few minutes to tinker with some new tools that create move trailers based on the information and video clips you feed it... the script is there and all you do is fill in the blanks and change the text based on some themes. Make sure you have your sound turned on and bump the video resolution in the lower right window if it looks grainy as it will go up to 720 HD quality. Enjoy....

That does seem like it wold be fun... the bad thing is these trailers make everything seem so action packed and over the top... meanwhile we sit on our boats waiting for the bite to happen... but when it does... all hell breaks loose.

The funny thing about the three fish and two nets shot is we had the video camera go from bringing in one fish to all of a sudden a delayed triple and the camera spun on my wrist for 2 minutes while coordinating the effort between kids and me scrambling to pull out the second net. It was a real comedy but we managed all 3 fish.

So what you're saying is it is no different than the 2 days of fishing these show hosts do to piece together a 30 minute show with commercials. LOL!

Nah.. they all wait for the fishing to be red hot and I'll give them a day... I've witnessed a few Kokanee video shoots and observe the boat hopping if action is slow for that boat. It's all good and glad somebody is out there documenting our craziness. I just have fun spoofing it once in a while for fun.

Good stuff HTK!!! Kicking back on cold winter days with a cup of hot chocolate watching your kokanee videos is what it's all about...I look forward to it each year!thumbsup

HiTeckKoke,

I may regret asking this based on your screen name and my budget but what video camera do you use? You videos look really good. I've been using the video option on my at least 6 year old Canon powershot but it now has a reddish line that runs through the right 1/4 of the screen. Kind of takes away from the scenary.

I was looking at the Go Pro series as an option. Just wanted to get your input on a setup. I would love to document some of my successful trips, even if it takes 10 trips to make a 2 minute show!

Thanks

From what I hear you may need that hot chocolate! We got our first blast down here in the Sierra's that even left some snow on the Bay Area peeks. I should have some more video fun to create this fall/winter... maybe a trailer from the pure underwater shots might be fun but the quality will be lower... I need U/W HD video which Walker is not offerring yet and I doubt they will.

That's the irony Bluknight... sometimes it's not about have the latest HiTech gadgets although I do enjoy that part but it is about using the tools at hand. So truth be told I don't have a fancy video camera but have been considering one for a long while since I sun-setted my Hi-8 camera about 7 years ago that has a detachable underwater camera head...it was HiTech for its time but never used it for Kokanee or fishing but I could I suppose.

So I have been a fan of using the Canon camera series for taking video through various models. Now with the current models taking 720P and in combination of Youtube upgrading its technology to support it I am finally happy I can get a decent video adventure. Of course paying attention to camera settings helps.

If you look at my older videos from early last year and even before that they are a lot more grainy and from older early generation Canon cameras in video mode. Our current camera is a Canon SD3500IS which took over the SD870IS which was a good camera IMO. Key features from both are the wider angle lens (a must on the boat), large visual display and decent video capability. It's about the 4th generation Powershot we have had in the family and I'm not 100% satisfied with the picture quality in comparison to some older models I have had but I am getting pickier in my old age... I swear the old G2 at 4MP takes better pictures. I really don't need 14MP but that's what you get these days. Also those 14MP pictures take up a lot more disk space, sure I could shoot at lower resolution but why would I want to?

So the reason I have stuck with camera video is the convenience of using SD cards and the ability to switch between photo to video at the click of a switch and the whole family can grab it and use it. Always been a Canon fan and will likely never leave that fold... I'd like a high end Canon with some big lenses as it's capabilities for very high quality photos and video are really nice.

A very long winded answer to your question but maybe others can use the info.

HTK, Nicely done videos. Did you get new downriggers? I remember Walkers that are in some videos and now I see Scotty's? Its been snowing over here and a little anti-freeze is in order for the coffee. Temps are going down into single digits with the next storm thats a brewing now.

Tks... I've always had Scotty's and it's the Walker that takes the U/W video as it is integrated into the unit and cable. I did add the 4th finally this last year. I got tired of people giving me crap for two down-riggers and then 3 and now no more with 4. ...101ok101

I remember when Gary Moralles was selling Walkers at the Salt Lake ISE about 4 yrs ago and he had a video setup on one of them. I thought about buying one myself but my money went to other much needed equipment first. I still have a need for other equipment today. It never ends.

Hah.. that could be the unit I bought as I did buy it off of him and it was his show demo unit. He was getting out of supporting them as well as they just don't have good service on the West Coast and only one guy in Michigan otherwise you have to ship to Canada. The system itself is unique and nobody has done an integrated unit like it but it needs a technology update.

I do have have a pair of Walkers with no issues so far with them. Your right about Canadian base and the one guy in Michigan. I've had conversations at both ends. Its a good downrigger in my opinion but needs more service outlets through the country.

HiTech, that was SWEET!

I didn't see where you posted the name of the application you used, and if you did would you mind repeating yourself...

Thanks!

Hey Neptune - the last two I have used iMovie on a Mac.

I am still learning it but it seems to work pretty good. I'm not sure yet whether it gives me as much control as I am used to with my PC tools so I am building a few more movies to see with all my spare late summer footage.
