The kokes are finally turning on up here north of Stevens.
Tried to get out yesterday, but had to abort with fish jumping everywhere when I had technical difficulties with the trolling motor.
So today, the rain finally let up about 6 PM and I head for the boat launch, and the fish were happy to see me.
It took a little while and a few tackle changes to dial them in, but in the end it looked like: trolling long line ( 8# mono) with 3/8 oz of lead followed by a sling blade and red/green wedding ring tipped with white gulp maggots. a speed change usually triggered the bite.
And a better class of fish this year, these were 9 to 12 inches vs the 7 to 9 inchers of last May.
