KPOW-Whats it all about?

John, Thanks for catching this one! I 'll try to add some info to your responce. 101goodpost101

Smalma, Lowe & all,
Frst off we will be modeled after the California & Oregon Chapters of Kokanee Power but not a part of either one, we can set our own course. You can get some info from www.kokaneepoweroforegon.com

In our Statment for the Organization we state our goals & objectives as doing things like providing assistance to the Dept. of Fish & Wildlife in the form of volunteers to help with their projects. Helping & promoting those interested in fishing , camping, hiking, working with the local VFW Post & the Wounded Veterans Fishing Program, holding Kokanee Derby's as another way to get people from around the state together enjoying the outdoors. Awards & prizes will come from our sponsers such as, Kokanee Fishing Forum, Shasta Tackle, Cabela's, Mack's, Dick Nite, Joel's Jigs, R&K Spinner's, Kokaneekid Fishing & several more.
This is a Non Profit-501-3-c Orginazation, None of the Board Member positions are paid, all of this will be done by Volunteers like you & I.
KPOW is still in the start up phase and everyone is invited to join in to help form and enjoy Kokanee Fishing, meet new people, fish new lakes !
All of the Board positions have not been filled and we can use your help to make this happen!
Thanks for your support, Richard / Kokonuts

I was hoping to get a Disabled fishing day going at American Lake as soon as Kpow is up and running. It was also suggested that Kpow could run a non-disabled Veterans fishing day on the same weekend.
I believe both Lewis/Mchord and American Lake V.A. Hospital have facilities on American Lake. I think we can get enough volunteers from that area to do the job. I'll drive the 150 miles to be there.
Most disabled vets have ID that would let them use the Lewis/ McChord facilities.
lowe1648mt, I think this is a great idea and in my opinion would be be a very worthwhile cause once KPOW is up and running. There is a nonprofit based out of Olympia which also orchestrates these type of activities. We could perhaps team up with them or they could provide insight into the logistics involved. Here is a link to their website: http://woundedvetsfishing.org/ 101idea101

Veterans & Kokanee Fishing

This is at the top of the list for KPOW projects this year! I met Rex Cuniff, VP of "Wounded Veterans Fishing Programs" at the Portland Show and we had a long talk about it. Watch for more info as soon as KPOW is up & running!
