I was at the "SHOW" in Puyallup on Fri. Sat. & Sun. and met many of you from the Seattle / Tacoma / Puyallup areas. I have talked about Kokanee Power and the support we have lined up & waiting to get started. Kokanee Power of Oregon, Shasta Tackle, Macks Lure's, Dick Nite, Cabela's, Kokanee Fishing Forums, Washington Lakes, Shortbus Flasher's, Joels Jigs & several others are all Willing and Ready to support Kokanee Power Of Washington!

What are we waiting for?? Your support is the only thing needed to start the Future of KPOW Now! The really hard work is done, the money is here, we have the support! Its time for some of you to join me and make an honest commitment to the organization by becomming a Member of the Board of Directors! By doing so you can help shape the club and set its direction. It takes someone with a few hours a month, a phone & computer, & loves to fish for Kokanee!

So lets get started, send me a private message on this forum, an e mail or call me!

Thanks to all of you that have shown an interest in becoming a Member of the Board!

Please go to www.sos.wa.gov/corps/nonprofitinformation.aspx
Look for the "Nonprofit Handbook" and "Nonprofit Board Guide".
These are small books that you can copy for your reference.

Send me an email if you have any questions
we will meet soon to form the board.

Small? 215 pages!

Kpow !

Toni,

I had a great time all week talking with many of you, but I was running on Empty Sunday Afternoon!

The really Good News Is I have the "Board Of Directors" forming up & we are burning up the computers as we speak. We still need some people in the North West & Eastern parts of the state to act as Area Directors. We hope to have KPOW on line in the next couple of weeks & we will be holding a few Derby's this spring!

Thanks for all of your help, with members like you supporting KPOW worthy12 we will all be having a great time fishing for KOKANEE this spring!!

Sincerlly, Richard / Kokonuts

Just wanted to say THANK YOU! to Richard for spearheading this operation, when we originally started talking about this I said that I would be a part of the B.O.D. but after getting to know me he talked me out of it. I am spread very thin right now with my job and family so time is at a huge premium. I am usually up at 5:30 am and don't get to sleep until 11:00-12:00 during the week, and I try to spend as much time with my kids as I can on the weekends. That being said though I would still like to help out "behind the scenes" when I can. I know we talked about possibly needing some one to help out with the kids at events and things like that. Something like that would be perfect for me as I have a kid that is very much into this and wants to be a part of KPOW.

Once again THANK YOU! Richard!

Kpow !

The wheels are turning BUT they are moving slow!
The Paperwork for the Non-profit Org. is ready but we cant do much until it comes back from the state. We are working on other things like the Bank Account,Web Site, PO Box and all the other necessary thing to put it all together.

I would like to have the derby schedual out soon so everyone can make preperations for them. Right now I am looking at Merwin, American, Yale and a few others.

If anyone has any suggestions, ideas about what, when, where or how to, please post them here!! 101idea101

Thanks for your help, Richard / Kokonuts

Other than hosting a number of derbies what sort of issues is kokanee power looking at on behalf of the kokanee fishing in Washington?

Hopefully there will be more to kokanee power than taking from the resource via derbies.

Kpow

I was hoping to get a Disabled fishing day going at American Lake as soon as Kpow is up and running. It was also suggested that Kpow could run a non-disabled Veterans fishing day on the same weekend.
I believe both Lewis/Mchord and American Lake V.A. Hospital have facilities on American Lake. I think we can get enough volunteers from that area to do the job. I'll drive the 150 miles to be there.
Most disabled vets have ID that would let them use the Lewis/ McChord facilities.

Lowe,

I don't know what the logistics are for operating an event like that, but I think research is needed. I have been to the American Lake V.A. hospital a lot the past year or two with my father. I use to fish that lake when I was a kid and I have fond memories.

Curt,

I think derbies are a great way to bring awareness to the public. Some people are unaware of the fish population in their local town, city or state. A derby is a way to educate, inform and to have fun.

What I think of KPOW is raising awareness of how vital our natural resources are and what we need to do as a group to keep it sustainable. That includes, working with the fisheries department, working with public utilities that own the land, EPA, other government agencies. Another big thing is to take children out fishing. For me as a Systems Analyst for Clean Water Services it is important that I get my daughters involved in the outdoors. To show them first hand what nature is all about. Instead of the fixation on technology. We need to get out younger generation involved so they can feel the same passion as you and I.

My girls have fished Wallowa, Merwin, Billy Chinook, Paulina, Prineville and a few others, but I remember the first time I took my 7 year-old to Merwin. As we pulled out from boat launch she took one look at the horizon and said "daddy it is beautiful". That to me what KPOW is all about. Or it will be.
