According to recreation.gov reservation website, Loops A, B, C & D at the Lucerne campground will be closed this summer for repaving. No showers, no hooks for this summer.

That is going to suck! You would think that they would be able to do it in the spring and try not to effect the people coming a long ways to fish.101idea101

I was hoping for a phased schedule where they do 1 loop a month and have 3 open at all times.

After talking with the people at the campground they confirmed that there would only be loop E,F And the group area avalible. They also stated that the contractor would not be able to complete the restoration unless they closed that part of it all down. Loop E wil be reserved, Loop F on first come first served. They also said that there will be no sites with power this year.O MY HOW NICE.

I can see it now, power generators constantly going. Its going sound like rush hour at all times. Well, at least there are other developed campgrounds around or the outback is usually nice. Buckboard might see a banner year too.

Hey Roger, I thought all that was done last year. Anyway JJ will have a new 5th wheel at Buckboard this year. Maybe we should all try to stop by and break it in

I like Buckboard anyway. Its the fisherman's marina and suits me just fine. It has everything you need including a much better launching experience. Not to mention the fact that the owners are really nice people. I enjoy my trip everytime I launch out of there.

The park leaves a little to be desired, but it is not that bad. However, I like to stay at the Buckboad RV park. The full hook-ups makes the wife happy. Also an easy walk down to the Boat slips.

I guess making a reservation early this year will be important.

I can see it now. Our gorge user fees will be raised next year to pay for the improvements at Lucerne.
Are these improvements separate from the grant money that was posted last year when they did the restrooms & showers? I assumed this was part of that money and already in hand. Last year I was guessing it was Obama stimulous money. They had those posters in the restrooms that outlined how much money they were spending in the park over the next few years but i forget exactly what it said. I'll just be happy to not have the concrete bumpers running down the edge of the pavement. Backing a long load into the spots was difficult with those things in.

Dave to the best of my knowledge , improvements made within the FGRA are from money collected from user fees. That why the user fee program, was started way back in 1996. The USFS does have money from it 's budget,to help with these improvements, but the biggest share is from user fees. I don't know about Utah, but the WYO G&F have invested heavily with some of the improvements made on the Wyo side. Both of the ramps at anvil draw and squaw hollow, were funded in part from money from the Wyo G&F . I have my doubts of any of obama's stimulus money will go for paying for any improvements on the gorge. These improvements to lucerene won't affect me personally, cuz I never camp there. Wait til the improvements are finished, and watch the campground fees go up.
