Any new updates has anybody been up lately?

I am going to give it a go Sat morning early before the crowd shows up.

Lucky Peak 7.9.11

I fished LP on the 9th and came home with five kokes, lost five as well. Most were caught between 15’-20’ using pink dodgers/sling blades and pink/orange wedding rings, spin-n-glows or hoochies. I mainly fished across from Spring Shores.

Where is the best area to fish this time if year, I was going to fish along the dam area at Turners gulch.
I hear of people talking about fishing up by spring shores but have never tried that area

The spawning fish will concentrate by the Spring Shores boat ramp if they were planted, or by the entrance to Mores Creek, if that was where they began their life! Either way, they begin to stage in the Spring Shores/narrows area prior to the run. That is why fishing is typically best from about this time on due to their concentrating in a smaller area. Things picked up today at LP.. Sorta slow early but picked up around 11 am and the fish were nice--kept 2 limits and one limit was all 17 inchers and the others were 13-16. Orange was a good color and they were at 24 feet. Only saw a couple of other boats out there so we had a great day!!!

Caught some fish on Saturday. The meat was soft and mushy, is this from the water being so warm? Also a couple of the fish had wounds on them, one had a hole the size of a small fingernail in it towards the front portion on the side.

Fishing was great on Saturday we cought several 18"+ fish and one that measured 19.25" all the fish we caught were nice and silver and firm. Went back on Sunday and fishing was slower but did boat 9, four were 17"+ fish. We were off the lake by 1pm on Saturday and 11am Sunday.

First, welcome to the site, and secondly, nice catch. The boy's smile says it all!! I have caught lots of 18's up there, but that is the first 19+ I have ever seen. Mike

Good fish. I agree with Kodiak1, in the past few years I haven't seen or heard of any Koke out of Lucky Peak larger than 19", so good on you. Glad to see someone able to boat some really big fish, with proof.

Looks like some really nice fish being caught. I have a few at 17 this year and an 18 from Arrowrock two weeks ago, but 19 from Peak is a great fish. (yes, I have a pic of the 18”)...Is it just me or are they still spread out between depths. Its been my experience over the past couple of years that by now, 25 feet is the depth I caught all my fish. That was normally backed up by the sonar. This year I am seeing them scattered all over the place and am catching them as shallow as 11' on the top line of the stacker - yesterday. It was a 17 inch fish. Anyone else seeing this?

Fish are definitely all over the place regarding their depth. I too picked up a couple of my larger fish today at 11 and 13 feet down. This was in the middle of the day. I also caught fish as deep as 29 feet down. We ended with two limits, the largest at 17 inches. I caught one of our smallest fish of the day at 26 feet down but had to keep it due to how it was hooked.

I use octopus hooks on my hoochies and have great luck with them...circle and octo are the only self setting hooks I know of and I love em...

I was kind of kidding about the self setting hooks...
It would be nice though.

"Self setting hooks'" is the excuse I use for not sitting close enough to my poles.
By the time I notice the bite, put my beer down without spilling it, run to the back of the boat, pick up the rod... the fish are gone and my self setting hook did not work again..

However, when I do identify the something I'm dragging is getting a lot of action but not hooking the fish, I'll change the size of my hook or put on a small trebble hook.
