Yale or Merwin

I was wondering if anyone had been out to Yale yet this year. I think it's open year 'round. Maybe Merwin is too. I've been wanting to go but I hired the wrong mechanic and a two day repair on my fishing truck has turned into a 14 week wait (and counting). Also, the weather has been quite nasty and I fear that it may be a wasted trip to go up there. Thought maybe I'd ask around here to see if anyone knew if it was currently even possible to get to those lakes. Hope everyone has been surviving this winter well.

I believe you're correct about Yale being open year 'round, but I'd check the reg's if I were you to be sure. I do know that Merwin IS open year 'round. Merwin is currently 13 feet below full pool and Yale is 2 feet below full pool. I've never fished either lake this time of year so I can't give you any advice, sorry. I generally start fishing Merwin end of April or May, then through the summer and early fall. Good luck.

Last year I fished in March and was successful, but cold. I am itching to get out there this year with my new Arima. I need to do a quick shakedown sometime soon.

Merwin

Not sure how the fishing is but I was up at Campers Hideaway yesterday and the lake looked like a mucky mess with trees and whitecaps. Was pretty nasty.

Good Luck, Maybe Sturgeon?

Not sure about Yale but Merwin should start to show some life towards the end of March, April for sure and May it's on. These days however I would just stay home and tie spinners the weather has pretty much made all bodies of water a muddy mess, and Merwin probably has all kinds junks in it and the water I'm sure is way too cold.
