Hello,
I'm brand new to Kokanee fishing and am headed up to New Melones this weekend. I was hoping a kind soul might spare some advice. I've rented a fishing boat with a 4 stroke, but don't have a downrigger. Could anyone suggest how I might fish for koks without one?
Many thanks,
Cynthia

Cythia, without a downrigger, your gonna need lead core line with long long setbacks. We fished Melones Saturday and caught our Kokes between 30 and 60' at 1.4 mph with 50' setbacks. Started at the spillway then moved to the 49 bridge, then finished at the dam. You can catch trout on top with dodger spinner combo's but not the Kokes. We ended up the day with 8 Kokes and 7 Trout.
Good luck!

Keith
