The Hummingbird was starting to do some strange things so I decided to pull the trigger and add a fishfinder in the back of the boat. Went with the Raymarine after reading some good things about them. Also, the Walleye guide we fished with a couple weeks ago had one and I was very impressed.

It has down imaging which I was never excited about for kokanee fishing, and am still not. But seeing what it can reveal when Walleye fishing convinced me that it would be definate help chasing Wally.

I have the Raymarine A57D installed on the back of my boat. Impressed with this unit vs my Lowrance unit. The xducer picks up better displaying more and defining arches in my opinion. As soon as my Lowrance starts going on the brink whether a xducer failure or something internal, I want to up grade to another Raymarine product. The Dragonfly 7 has caught my eye for a while but don't have any personal info on those that have use it yet. Like you down imaging for kokes is not on the table. However I can see where in shallower conditions it might have its advantage.

Put a Garmin at the back of my boat and love it. Even anchored for salmon it gives you something to look at. lol

I've always used garmin in the past, but I am seriously considering Raymarine. Particularly the Wi-fish black box with a tablet. But from what I've read the transducer is only a single beam for down vision. I already use an android device for charts and speed. You stated that you weren't excited about DV, would there be any drawbacks to only having DV for koke fishing or salmon/steelhead on the columbia?

DV will not show you fish reliably. It is designed to give you an idea of what the bottom looks like and were the structure is, not something I need to know for Kokanee. It may or may not show salmon hugging the bottom, I have no experience in that area.
