I've been hitting Olive Lake quite a bit this summer, catching mostly rainbow but the occasional kokanee winds up in the boat from time to time. What I've seen on the fish finder is that they seem to hang out from 25-60 feet and even sometimes as deep as 80 feet. I've had good luck with 4 lb test line, a banana sinker and a wedding ring in either red, green or a combination of colors. Oddly, instead of the white corn a crappie nibble on the hook seems to work well. The wedding rings with the red hooks seem to catch the most.
The last one I caught was right at 16" and talk about tasty!! Sizes of 12 to 14" seem to be the most common.
As a warning, either from Dale or Granite the dirt portion of the road is extremely washboarded, specially on the steeper portions and curves. Go slow and if you have 4 wheel drive, use it. Even as slow as 10 mph, you'll chatter almost all the way across the road in places.
