I saw a guy launch a brand new North River with the trailer attached. It took him a good ten minutes to figure out why the boat didn't separate from the trailer. Every guy who has a boat will eventually forget the plug. It's the nature of the boating activity...getting up too early, the excitement of getting to the lake, getting distracted by all the pre-launch stuff you have to do and the pressure of getting a boat in the water with other boats waiting behind you...it's gonna happen. It's one of those lessons that seems to stick with you, though. Something about a cold-water soak of the nether regions and not being able to find your own drain for a week seems to make for a strong memory on the drain plug situation. I get so much sand in the bottom of my boat that I think a drain valve would quickly get ruined, so I prefer the plug.
