I was wondering if any of you use a scent chamber for extra scent trails while trolling for Koke's? I know Oregon tackle sell them but wonder if any of you have made your own and any tips on how to make one?

I will run spin-n-glows the bodies are hollow and soak them in oil or use a diabeties syringe and inject the body with your favorite sauce. remember the oil is an atractant to help find your lure, the lure has to be something they want to attack other wise they will swim away. dfly

From what I can see their scent chambers have a bead stuffed inside a weed guard with a chain swivel and a wire threw the bead with a loop on the end, I have been playing around with weed guards a little, I dont like paying $2 a piece for a chain swivel with a piece of plastic tube over it. Anyway long story short depending on what you want to use for scent and how thick it is, a simple weed guard chain swivel seems to work ok. You can pretty much fill it up and it will last for anywhere from an hour to 3hrs depending on exactly how thick it is. I have been running 2 rods with and 2 rods with out this year and so far have not noticed any benefit, its hard to tell for sure though, I would imagine some days it might make a big difference other days not so much, or maybe I just haven't found the scent they like yet. I like it because you don't end up with a bunch of sticky slimy stuff all over your gear.

Thanks for the tips guys, the only idea I had was threading my line through a small chunk of some kind of sponge right above the dodger or on the leader for the lure itself and then it would have to be re scented every time I would add fresh corn to the lure. Putting the pro cure scent on the back of the dodger just doesn't work for me because I always manage to stick my fingers in it every time. The one thing that always works is the scented corn and my buddy and I found that at Paulina lake the kokes don't seem to care if the corn was made fresh that day or a week or so old. I guess as long as it is kept cold and doesn't spoil and they still hit it you can use it as long as you dare. I will definitely try putting the scent into the spin n glows, I have never used them yet but got a couple to try for this year. Thanks guys.

I got a couple of scent chambers from pro-cure years ago. So far i've only used them once... made more of a mess than anything. I just put gel scent on the lure now.... used to spread some on the dodger and ball but found it not nessessary.

I used the scent chamber for the first time today. I like the possibilities. I found them to be quite messy as the syringe tip they provide doesn't seem to fit quite right and oil everywhere. caught fish on all line except the scent chamber equipped rig. although other contributing factors as well . I may modify a bit then try again.

ducky I would go down to the feed store and pick up a syringe and a short needle then dull the tip. they come with a cap so when done they don.t leak and just keep in the cooler and they are only 15 cents but some scents will swell the plunger and will only be good for the day but for 15 cents it is pretty cheep and mess free way to inject the scent. dfly

For what its worth I have a downrigger ball that has a scent chamber in it. I pour the PRO-CURE in it and it leaks out via a thread that hangs out the bottom. I haven't noticed a big difference in catch rates though.

Two great ideas and thank you. I will utilize the syringe idea for sure. What brand of downrigger ball is it, I love that idea as well.
