There is a ton of snow pack in the upper Green River basin. It is about 113% of normal with above normal water content. Expect big run-off and higher, off color water like we had a few years back. And oh good, Gas will be $4.00 a gallon. That just sucks. I know the Gorge is a long ride from home for most of us. I know I may have to cut one or two trips out. $200.00 is a lot of money just to get to where you are fishing !!

Yea - Another Summer of exorbitant, outrageous and unnecessary price hikes in the oil industry. worthy12

I just saw a piece on the news about stations in Florida charging nearly $6 a gallon for regular unleaded. They weren't advertising streetside so the reporter informed his viewers to always check the price at the pump before you fill-er-up. 101shock1101

Next thing we know, stations will change their unit of measure to liters instead of gallons to make it look like they're cutting their prices. We need to fight back! 101punch101 I just bought a economy car so I can save $$ at the pump and I bought AMERICAN!!!!!!!!!! nananana

Unfortunately, this will hit all of us in the wallet. I think I will be looking to make some trips up and stay longer once I'm there. I'm glad my boat is not a gas whore! That helps alot. My powerstroke will be sold in may and then it's gonna be a Toyota Tacoma for me!

Buy American

I have 3 Ford high mileage cars and a dodge pick up . Buy American that's where the jobs are.

i'm undecided about my powerstroke at the moment. Its paid for but it's the driving to & from work that requires gas more than anything. My boat also is not a gas whore and thank god for that. I'm thinking that there will be more trips in the shorter distances for fishing. With high gas prices, high lodging prices wouldn't make since let along resturant prices. Brown bagging has been a staple of mine for years.

That high water a couple of years ago made for some tough fishing. On the bright side, all that water should mean even more nutrients being washed in for fish food. There were an awful lot of 2 year old fish last year and I hope they have all grown up big and strong.

Well, unless your vehicles were made prior to about 1985, it has parts from Asia, Mexico and Europe. Then there is the possibility that truck was built in one of two plants in Mexico, same with the Fords.

The Toyota Tacoma and Tundra have been built in San Antonio, Texas since 2009

Do you think that Tacoma could pull my gas whore to the lakeworthy12

While I dislike the high fuel prices as much as anyone, I am not going to let it affect my fishing.
Most of my fishing trips are 2 weeks or more in length. The nearest lake that has Kokanee is 200 miles away and most are double that distance.
I save money by fishing in Oregon rather than paying CA's outrageous boat inspection tax.
I have been driving a Tundra, which when loaded to max for fishing trips, gets 9-11MPG. I have just ordered a 2011 F-350 DRW, CB, 4x4, LB with the 6.7 diesel and a 11.5' triple slide camper that will weigh 5K lbs wet. When I drag my jet behind it I expect to get about the same mileage as the Tundra, plus I will have a nice place to stay and will be able to in more inclement weather without having to rough it.
I figure my fuel costs will be just a little more, factoring in the higher cost of diesel over gas.
As far as the question of where the profits Toyota makes go, you have to look at the whole picture. Toyota assembles the Tundra in Texas(mine was made in Indiana before the Texas plant was opened. The tranny, engine and diff are made in the U.S. Tranny and engine made by Toyota and the diff by Dana, with American workers. Fords Diesel is made in Mexico.
If you wish to share in Toyota's profits, outside of benefiting from the money than Toyota's American workers spend here, you can buy Toyota's ADR and share in the profits that Toyota not only makes here, but in the profits Toyota makes world wide.

The fuel costs are the least of my worries. My dually and my boat trailer need tires this year before I come out. That's going to make a lot louder sucking sound than the gas pumps.

High prices or not, I'm going fishing. I can't do anything about it and it's not worth getting an ulcer over. So Screw it , I'm going fishing anyway.

laugh hystlaugh hyst funny stuff Rob, I think the sisters might just be a lil too much for a Tacoma, pulling your gas whore. With fuel being as high priced as it is,It won't make me cut back on trips to the lake. I will just have a very high fuel bill this year. Of course having the gorge so close won't hurt either.
