Tackle Organization

Thanks Dave.

I saw where, in another post, a moderator commented that he hadn't figured out how to post pics either, so I don't feel like a complete dumby.

i use this plano box for kokanee gear, it has a roomy top area that unlocks and opens plus in front 4 plastic boxes slide out with the changeable dividers, i wound up my leaders and used a wire bread bag tie to tie the line together - they are easy to take out and change lures and put back in the box plus everything i use for kokanee fits in 1 box - this is a medium sized box but there are ones quite a bit bigger!

Thanks everyone! This just goes to show how great of a site this is. I love the fact that everyone is out there and willing to share their insight, so someone like me doesn't have to start at ground zero! Thanks again!

My theory is that tackle boxes are good for storing tackle. When you want to use tackle, an organizer is more useful.

Funny enough, that was the first post I read as I was doing my search. I just got off my phone talking to my dad asking if he had that size of a drill bit.

Like I said earlier, I had a feeling this would happen. I knew that so many people had great ideas and practices. I am just having a good time trying to figure out how to get myself and my boat organized, and more importantly getting out and fishing!

The only advantage I have now is that I don't have that much gear "yet"
I am sure that will change soon enough.

I love my jumbo Cabela's bag like Bduck. Just saw this weatherproof version on sale. This thing will pack lots and lots of tackle.

That is great. I think I may have to drive down to Cabelas this weekend. Thanks for the heads up! Then I will have to start buying some gear to fill it!

I am also going to work on getting that table built as discussed earlier.I am really liking that idea.

My Smoker Craft Alaskan is about the same size as your boat. If I every get around to figuring out how to post pictures I'll be sure to post one. The table fits into the port side contour of the boat between the mid storage box and the front bench and is around 17" wide by around 40" long. The self underneth is around 14" wide due to the curvature of the boat getting narrower as you go down towards the floor. Both the table and shelf underneth have a edge to keep things from falling, and the edge common to the top table has a measuring tape glued to it for measuring out leaders. Underneath the storage shelf is where the 2 gas tanks sit for the outboards and there is room on one end to store a couple more plano box's. The top of the table is covered with non-slip rubber material...hope that helped.

Here are some pictures of the table. I've got 5 to copy and paste so bare with me. I forgot to mention that the table is removable, and is secured in the boat useing 2 screws. he white piece of pvc pipe on the end of the table is for storing the net vertically when underway. Sorry about the picture size, I'm having some issues trying to get them to come up as thumbnails.

Thank you so much, those pictures are perfect! Very nice!
I am going to build something like this for my boat!

Since this thread is about tackle storage here are a couple things I built to keep "stuff" organized in the house. The rod rack accommodates up to 14 rods and has 5 shelves for storage...built into a corner behind a door. The closet shelf fits on the floor and has 3 shelves and has multiple storage area's built in.

And it has three inches of freeboard when it's in the water. laugh hyst101bananna101

That boat looks like it has a lot more room in it than my 15 ft. Gregor. What's the beam width of it?

The beam width is 5 1/2 feet. The boat had seats mounted on top of the mid storage box's at one time... just one fwd and one aft now. I built an additional storage box for supplies and the starter battery and mounted a battery up front for the Minn Kota. The front storage area at the bow is closed off with a hinged door for access. On the ceiling of the bow storage is where the duel on-board charger is located The front storage wall is removable to gain access to to the removable floor below where more storage space exists...

It's a lot bigger than mine. Mine has a 55 inch beam. It fits between the garage and the fence, which is 60 inches of space. Yours looks like a big barge in comparison.
