under or over

Personally, I would mount it under. Figuring that it would be less of a temptation for some sticky-fingered bozo the more out of sight I could put it. Also, if you mount it under, you still have the use of your dash for setting stuff on it like keys or knife or hook sharpener or something. Doesn't mean I'm right but that is how I would do it. Good luck! It looks like a pretty nice radio. Maybe if you get the station set just right you can hit the right tunes for koke's and they'll just start jumpin' in your boat to join the most happinin' party on the lake. :)

Here I thought we were going to have the great toilet paper debate. As you boat looks a little exposed to elements, I'd vote for under too.

oce i get this installed and a couple more batteries for the bow mount ill be done adding things. (ya right) LOL

No, if you're anything like me, then it will be time for a new boat!
The only problem with mounting stuff under the dash is they can turn into "knee magnets". This can be hard on both the electronics and the knees!!

They do act as a knee magnot but you have to mount according to what spaces are available. Thats a nice looking radio Petty. I think I need to order one of those myself. Alot of boats that come with factory installed radios, are in-dash with a slide open/close cover to protect them from the elements. You can't go wrong with satelite radio for music, but don't rely on a weather report from say Dallas, Tx. They get tornados. laugh hyst

On my boat and most of my buddies boats, the front passenger seat under the dash is where all the shedded jackets and lunch buckets go. If my rider doesn't have the seat spun around watching rods, why did I bring him? LOL!

im not to conserned about the passangers knees most people sit backwards in that seat anyway. looks like under will be my best bet laugh hyst

If you want to keep it out of the weather and out of sight- put it in the glove box. It won't be a knee knocker in there.

Glove box already has uses. im going to mount it under the glove box. as long as i have enough supports there. i desided not to use the flush mount speakers that cme with the radio and bought some gimble mount speakers that ill mount somewhere. LOLnananana

i had to move my cup holder away from my new stereo, so this is what i came up with, i fish with Bearclaw alot and the first time in my boat he spilled both beer and coffee, so i moved my cup holder into the perfact place for him and am going to put a label on it calling it the BEERCLAW>laugh hystlaugh hyst
