Now that this Kokanee season is over, I want to thank every one who helped make this a special year for me. Actually it started last year when we met Richard (Kokonuts) fishing at Lake Merwin. He show me a lot of things that helped me get started. He told my dad and I about the Kokanee Power of Oregon and every thing they do. He also talked us into going and fishing the derbies. Our first derby was at Green Peter and we had a lot of fun, we fished for 2 days and caught over 50 fish. The next derby was at Wickiup, the fish were hard to catch, but the ones we did catch were AWESOME! We managed to catch 12 fish that trip. The third derby was at Crescent Lake it was fun and we caught our limit, but I liked the fish at Wickiup better, and the mosquito's were terrible I had bites everywhere! The last Derby was at Odell, we drove most of the night to get there and I was really tired, we did OK there, we only caught 19 fish, but I still had a lot of fun, I even caught a bull trout!
Spending time at the derbies I got to meet a lot of really awesome people. It was fun spending time listening and learning, I really enjoyed talking with every one. Kokanee Kid, (Jermey and Debbie) always had good advice, but I couldn't get them to give up any of their secrets 101no101. Rick was always a blast, he always made me laugh. Ken and Dawnell were very helpful and encouraging.
Last but not least Gary Miralles, I really enjoyed spending time with him, and I am proud to be a member of his Pro-Staff!
I met a lot of other great people and hope to meet some more new people next year.
For my birthday this year my dad made me a really cool trophy shelf and rod holder, along with making lures I also like making rods, Gary Loomis (North Fork Composites/Edge Rods) has been helping to learn how to do that.

Thanks to Kokanee Power of Oregon and to every one that helps make this happen, I cant wait until next year. tooexcited

Shawn,

It was a real blast fishing at Merwin & the derby's with you & Scott! The Trophy Shelf is the perfect place to display everything & I am sure you'll enjoy it for many Birthdays to come!!

For those of you that didnt make the Kokanee Power Derby's those trophys are from the Junior Division , 3 First Place & 1 second place all won by Shawn! He is on the way to become a true all around fisherman with a couple of nice Salmon from the Columbia River on his stringer!

His dad Scott is also a " Pretty Good" Kokanee Slayer " !

Kokonuts!!

Hi Shawn, It was great getting to know you and your dad. You guys are alot of fun and hope to fish with you in the future. You are a good fisherman. Have a great winter (maybe will have you guys up for some sturgeon fishing this winter) and look forward to some kokes next year.

What a great year Wild Child!!! We can't wait to see how next season goes for you( I know the kokes in your neighborhood are very very nervous.) Have a great winter TM.

Wild Child is getting to be a "regular" at all the derbys, and no doubt will develop into an authority on koke fishing. I am very impressed with the way he conducts himself at these events and represents himself and his family well. A real class act!101props101
