well, i got a message from a friend not to drill any holes in my boat so he came over and looked at what i had and ill have pics next week of my mounts

These are Bert's Tackle DR brackets, they might work for your boat. I used them for my rear downriggers.

Hey Ron - Welcome to the boards and than thanks for the photos on those mounts as I've seen them once before on a DW and wanted to determine where they came from. I think it was Sac ISE show a few years ago.

A quick Google search yielded the parts here:

Tks.

I have two different set ups. One set like Ron G, & one Canon set.

Berts Track set up, I just finished these yesterday. When You take the mounting bases out you can slide a plastic insert in & it acts as a step. I bought a couple of extra inserts & cut them to fill in the track.

These are Canon mounts. Notice the SS plate under them. When I take the bases off the plate stays & looks very custom.

The Canon pedestal mounts are 4 7/8" square .

Very clean looking Bob and great pics. This thread has turned out to be very useful as it is a common issue for a of people adding their own downriggers.

Did you use any backing plate on the underside or just straight bolts through the gunnel? Just curious and thinking that would help the rigidity of the mount depending on the gunnel thickness. It's probably just overkill though.

Hi Tech
I did use a backing plate, 3/16" steel. The track is 12" the backing plate is 5" wide by 18" long. With out the plate I think the gunnel would flex too much, especially if the boom is extended a foot or two.

I also thought security. I drilled & tapped a 1/4 x 20 hole in the middle of Berts fixed base. Drilled a mating clearance hole in the track. When I put the fixed base in the track, I install a security bolt in the 1/4x20 hole, this prevents a thief from sliding the base out of the track.

I am getting ready to install my Cannon Mag. 10 HS soooo I would also like to see some picts.
I am going to use my Scotty Manual as a back up, I mounted it by making up a mount system using the Rod Holder so that I can move it around to anyone of the 4 Rod Holders that were mounted on the boat when I bought it.It works great & is easy to move around. thumbsup....Kokonuts

P>S> I just realized that I missed all the picts on the first page! My Bad!
