HookSetter-Randy,
Since we have already talked, let me say Welcome again. All we need is a start time and map to our launch point. As you're already working with Dan on this projrct, you will have more expierince than 2/3 of us at this. I don't anticipate very many problems. However let us know of your experience once you've done it.
Chris

Hey all,

I'll be there. This is my first post, but I've been working with Dan Gabriel and will be taking out my first wounded warrior next week, April 5th.

I know you might not need the boat, but I will be there and available if you do. I generally fish for perch at American (ask the Kid about that, I have a method), but will be trying to boat some of those rascally kokanee with the veterans. Pretty much have all the gear, just not the experience fishing kokanee. Maybe Toni (Wannafish) can sell me some of her killer lures to help me boat some.

Anyway, let me know if I can help out.

What is it you want? Surly this year is different than last year!

Not to change the subject, but I will.
43 years ago today I was commisioned as a 2nd Lt. Artillery at Fort Sill, OK.
I still don't know who the joke was on.

Hello Fellow Kokanee Fishers,
I talked to Dan Gabriel and TrollNFisher two days ago. Looks like our start time will be 8:00 A.M. Also we may have a few vets bring family members.
All this means is that those of you that can take two fishers may get the chance to. Some of the fishers may only want to fishing the morning and some, only in the afternoon. We may have more than the original 12 vets, split in two shifts. Some fun
Have any of you looked at the Columbia River vets post? Nice video of one of the other events.
Map and rules to follow soon.

Chris

The rules are not mine. They are your rules forJBLM and the Wounded Veterans Fishing Program. Rules such as no alcohol in the boats. Or no weapons on base. I don't know what else. Guess we find out what else when they are published.

My first Wounded Veteran fishing outing.....

Hey All,

Made my first Wounded Veteran Fishing Program trip to American Lake yesterday, April 5th. Met Dan Gabriel, WVFP director, and James Mote, my fishing buddy for the day at the JBLM dock in the morning. James is on the left and Dan is on the right in the first pic.

Had a GREAT day on the water even though we caught no fish. We listened to music, ate chicken sammiches and generally just enjoyed the day. I think for James it was just a day to get away from responsibility and do something relaxing. He appeared to really enjoy it. I know he liked the music.

The second pic is at the Lakewood dock takeout. James and my friend Rick, who also fished with us. That's my boat, so if you see us on the water give us a shout out.

Toni, was that you in the little boat we passed? Looked like the downrigger the Kokanee Kid rigged for you. When we passed it looked like you were doing about as well as we were.

For those of you thinking about taking a wounded veteran out, DO IT!!!!! It is incredibly rewarding to think you might add a ray of sunshine to their day. Lessons learned from the first day? No tomatoes on the chicken sammich for James, and more fish next trip.

A big shout out to Mike and the guys at Ted's Sporting Goods for helping out with some fishing supplies. Every little bit helps.

Next trip as soon as Dan can schedule it. See you on the water!!!!

Sponsorship update

Here is the whole story I went to the MP station and got a copy of what is entailed in depth to gain access to Fort Lewis. If you access by boat I would advise to be put on the access request even if you don’t come through the gate. The information I need from everyone is Last Name, First Name, Middle name, Date of Birth, last 4 of your SSN, Driver license number and state of issue. Once compiled I’ll turn it in, the earlier we get it complete the better for us. I will pm everyone on the site with my email address and cell number that showed interest. Just bear with me this is the first time I’m coordinating something like this. If you already have DOD stickers no need to submit info. We need to get this done 2 weeks prior to the event. This will allow enough time for Security to clear everyone and they will give the special event passes to me to hand out to you. You must still have valid registration and insurance. If you are given the special event pass you won’t need to stop at the visitor center the morning of, you just come into the gate and show pass and ID. If we don’t get you on this roster and cleared you will go through the main visitor’s center exit 120 to get a pass.
Thank you TNF

Less than three weeks 'til Wounded Veterans Fishing Day! Does TrollNFisher have your info? Any added suggestions? Any problems? See you there.
